Sitting power pose
Perch on the front third of a chair, lean from the hips, and own the frame.

- studio
- indoor full-body
Steps
Sit on the front edge of the seat, not back against the chair.
Plant both feet (or cross at the ankle, not the knee).
Lean the torso slightly toward the camera from the hips.
Rest one forearm on the thigh; keep the other hand relaxed.
Pro tips
- A slight lean forward reads engaged; leaning back reads checked-out.
- If the chair has arms, don’t drape — it widens the silhouette.
Common mistakes
- Slouching into the backrest so fabric bunches at the waist.
- Knees splayed or locked together — pick a deliberate, compact stance.
Lighting
Soft light from in front and slightly above. Watch for a dark shadow under the brow if lights are too high.
